What makes a cover letter stand out?

Personalization. A boilerplate cover letter is arguably worse than no cover letter at all. You need to name-drop the company, explicitly mention the role you are applying for, and align your personal values or past achievements directly with the company's current goals or culture.

Avoid repeating your resume verbatim. Instead, tell a story that highlights your passion and specific interest in the organization's mission.
